Shiatsu Ryoho

Shiatsu Ryoho

Shiatsu Ryoho comes from Japanese and means finger pressure therapy. 'Shi' literally means fingers and 'atsu' means pressure.

Shiatsu originated in Japan, but has its origins in Traditional Chinese Medicine (also abbreviated as TCM; Traditional Chinese Medicine).

It is a manual therapy, using the fingers, thumbs and palms to apply pressure to the body.

But above all, it is about balance. Shiatsu restores energy and balances it. This makes you more balanced.

Moreover, shiatsu stimulates the body's self-healing capacity.

The treatment last about an hour.

A treatment method for many complaints

Shiatsu Ryoho comes from Japanese and means finger pressure therapy. 'Shi' literally means fingers and 'atsu' means pressure. Shiatsu originated in Japan, but has its origins in Traditional Chinese Medicine (also abbreviated as TCM; Traditional Chinese Medicine).

It is a manual therapy, using the fingers, thumbs and palms to apply pressure to the body. But above all, it is about balance. Shiatsu restores energy and balances it. This makes you more balanced. Moreover, shiatsu stimulates the self-healing capacity of the body. Its effects include making the skin supple, promoting circulation, making the muscles supple, reducing tension and stiffness, promoting digestive functions and regulating the functions of the nervous system.

According to Eastern tradition, everything is seen as a form of energy. It is believed that harmony in the human body is important for health. To this end, life energy, known as 'Ki' in Japanese and 'Chi' or 'Qi' in Chinese, should flow smoothly through the body's meridians. These meridians are channels or energy pathways and can be compared to a river system. Sometimes the ki is blocked and this can cause health complaints. The aim of shiatsu is to remove these blockages.

Incidentally, shiatsu is based on Western knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Shiatsu is a technique, in which through sustained gentle pressure on the body, the autonomic nervous system (part of the nervous system that works independently) and the spinal cord are stimulated. This can improve the body's physiological functions. The nervous system is positively stimulated and comes to rest.

Shiatsu can also be used preventively. By regularly undergoing shiatsu treatment, disturbances can be remedied at an early stage. Oriental medicine assumes to balance the body, because when it is in balance, it helps to stay healthy.

In 1964, shiatsu was officially recognised as a therapy by the Japanese government in Japan. Shiatsu is very common in Japan and is used as part of medicine like physiotherapy in the Netherlands. Shiatsu is relaxing for body and mind.

What is it good for?

Ben

'After a long period of stress and a traumatic single-car accident, I had complaints of fatigue, dizziness and headaches. The regular doctors said they couldn't do anything with my fatigue. A homeopathic doctor and a regular GP specialising in acupuncture independently diagnosed exhaustion and lung complaints, as well as whiplash. While placing an acupuncture needle on my head, I had an experience as if I emptied on the spot. The doctor replied to my question that this was also a pressure point for massage and energy treatment. That's how I ended up at Gaby Kletter'.

'The Shiatsu massage is a refined therapy, which helped reduce tension especially in my neck and head. There were days when it brought me a lot of peace and restored vitality. Over the course of about a year, my headaches in particular but also fatigue symptoms have diminished and I feel fitter'.

'Gaby Kletter is someone who knows how to combine professional distance with warm commitment', Ben, satisfied client.
